SECOND PHASE INTERNSHIP (AN OVERVIEW )

  Second phase of school internship started on 5/7/22 and came to an end on 22/8/22.I was able to complete two chapters ( A Shipwrecked Sailor, From a Railway Carriage) in 8 A and three chapters (1 unit) and two grammar topics in 9 E. To check the progress of the students in learning as well as the effectiveness of teaching learning process, I conducted achievement test on 10/8/22 Wednesday and diagnostic test on 11/8/22 Thursday. By identifying the strengths and weaknesses of students I was able to provide them remedial class on 16/8/22.On 19/8/22 we had the last session in which I thanked my students for their cooperation and we had a small exhibition based on the works created by students in relation to the  unit 'Bonds of Love'. The communicative English class was another great success. Thus those days in GHSS Chathannoor gave me rich experiences that would definitely contribute to my future career.

Assembly

 On 20/8/22 there was an assembly which was conducting after three years. The main agenda was to distribute prizes for students who won in various inter-school competitions. Also the headmistress showed them the overall championship trophy got from the Rotary Club for becoming number one school in Kollam District in securing highest ranks in SSLC examination. Due to the insufficiency of place, normally there were no regular assemblies.

MAGAZINE PUBLICATION

I was able to make a magazine by compiling the works including stories, poems, drawings,write up of 9th standard students. The theme of the magazine is 'Gandhi'.The magazine was published by the English teacher Indulekha.

Last week - The English Exhibition

Since I have completed all the chapters assigned for me I conducted achievement test and diagnostic test during the last week. And after analysising the marks I gave them remedial classes. Also I was able to conduct an English exhibition in GHSS Chathannoor in relation to the chapters I taught them.Students displayed the various charts, paintings, models, etc. The English teacher was surprised to see the works of students and she appreciated me for the effort .

Independence Day Celebration

  Like every year, this year too GHSS Chathannoor celebrated In dependence Day on 15th August 2022 with great joy and pomp. On that day the sense of happiness and pride could be clearly seen on the faces of all who asssembled there. The programme started at 9.30 am by hoisting the flag by school head mistress Kamalamma and National Anthem was played. Later students presented patriotic songs. There were speech by teachers, principal and P. T. A. President. Then there were parades conducted by NCC Students and SPC. There was colourful rally in which students dressed up as freedom fighters and reciting patriotic songs. The rally covered main areas of Chathannoor and reached the school. After that sweets were distributed and all were happy.

Constitution literacy Day

  On 12/8/2022, there was a special programme. As a part of the constitution literacy Day there were classes on constitutional rights, values and equality. The programme was inaugurated by reading the preamble of Indian constitution. After the inauguration external faculties from the department of government took classes. The classes were based on constitutional values, emphasizing the importance of Article 14-Right to Equality. We teacher trainees too attended these classes.

TALKSHOW

 In connection to the chapter 'Tolstoy Farm' I was able to conduct a talkshow in 9E on the topic " vocational education for getting jobs and achieving self development". We had a very interactive and interesting session. I was surprised to see their enthusiasm and the transformation from the first class to this one.

Organic fair

 NSS unit of GHSS Chathannoor conducted a fair of organic vegetables which was inaugurated by the HM Kamalamma teacher.She delivered a speech on the importance of organic farming.Teachers and students participated in it.

Week (4)

The last chapter 'Tolstoy Farm ' was started in 9E. I started the class by introducing them two extra reading materials related to the chapter. One is the collection of stories by Tolstoy and the other is the autobiography of Gandhiji.

ENRICH AND ENJOY ENGLISH ( Third week )

  During this week I was able to introduce new works and discourses for the students. I introduced the world famous 'Utopia' by Thomas More to the children as an entry activity to the lesson 'Song of a Dream'. I felt difficulty in teaching Malayalam Medium students in English. So I found new ways to engage children and to make ideas clear. I asked small questions frequently so that they could remember the ideas. Then after each session I ask them to fill the blanks by providing sentences from the textbook. All these helped them to understand ideas clearly.This week I started the poem 'Song of a Dream' in 9th class and  'From a Railway Carriage'  in 8th class.
